American Airlines recently began work on a new pharmaceutical handling facility in Philadelphia (PHL). Once completed later this year, the 25,000 sq ft facility will be able to handle controlled-room-temperature life-science materials from the “pharma corridor” in the Northeastern US.
In addition to handling passive temperature-controlled shipments at various temperature ranges, the hub will also have a holding area with room for 30 active temperature-controlled ULDs.
In related news, American Airlines Cargo continues to expand its cargo presence in North America. The latest additions are facilities in Fort Myers, FL (RSW), and Orange County, CA (SNA).
