Air Atlanta Icelandic acquires second EVA 747F
Air Atlanta Icelandic has acquired a 747‑400BDSF (27899) from EVA Air [FAT 005104]. The aircraft was ferried from Jakarta (CGK), where it had been stored, to Liège (LGG).
Air Atlanta Icelandic told Cargo Facts that this is the second of two 747-400BDSFs recently purchased from the Taiwan-based carrier, confirming our previous suggestion that the Icelandic company would be a probable candidate for unit 27899.
Unit 27899 was delivered to EVA Air as a combi in Feb. 1995 and converted to full-freighter configuration in April 2009. It operated its last scheduled round trip on June 2, flying from Taipei (TPE) to Los Angeles (LAX) via Anchorage (ANC) and arriving back in TPE two days later. It was then ferried to CGK on June 26.
As for the other ex-EVA 747F acquired by Air Atlanta Icelandic (27898), it was withdrawn from service in Feb. 2019 and also stored in CGK until May, when it was redelivered to HHN. This aircraft is currently also being operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic on behalf of Magma.
Air Atlanta Icelandic’s freighter fleet now consists of one 747-400BCF, five 747-400BDSFs and one production 747-400F. Four of the 747s are being operated for Magma, while two are flying for Kenya-based Astral Aviation.
Since Nov. 2017, EVA has withdrawn its remaining two 747-400BDSFs and three 747-400Fs and replaced them with five 777Fs, having taken the final 777F (62828) in May 2019.
