17 Asia-Pacific fleet additions in 2019
Earlier this week, we looked at how the freighter fleet in mainland China has grown in 2019. As the year draws to a close, here’s an overview of the seventeen freighter aircraft that were added to carriers based elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region over the course of the year. [Note: for the purposes of this post, we have not included Guam-based Asia Pacific Airlines as part of the “Asia-Pacific region” since Guam is a territory of the United States.]

November: 737-500 (28727), to be operated by subsidiary Citilink (no seats but not a full conversion)

August: two Atlas Air 747-8Fs (37561 and 37566) on ACMI lease (upgauged from two 747-400Fs)

In 2020, known additions that we are expecting include Cebu Pacific’s second ATR 72-500F (828), which is being converted at the Sabena Technics facility in Dinard (DNR), two 737-800BCFs dry-leased by GECAS to Garuda, Qantas adding its first EFW-converted A321P2F (835, ex-Onur Air) on lease from Vallair, as well as six 777Fs to Taiwan-based China Airlines.
