China’s seventh 737-800F operator takes first unit

Xiamen Airlines and subsidiary Air Road Logistics have taken delivery of their first freighter, a 737-800BCF, joining six other operators of the type in China. The 2006-vintage aircraft (35044) landed in Xiamen (XMN) on Dec. 29, after conversion at the GAMECO facility in Guangzhou (CAN), wearing Air Road’s colors. It had previously been one of Xiamen Airlines’ oldest passenger 737-800s and arrived at GAMECO in August [ FATs 9350-9352 ]. (Courtesy/Xiamen Airlines)[/caption] Air Road Logistics was formed in October 2021 and is owned by C&D Inc., Xiamen Airlines and Zongteng Group, which hold 50.1%, 37.9% and 12% stakes, respectively. Air Road will operate as the cargo division of Xiamen Airlines, but Cargo Facts believes Xiamen Airlines will fly unit 35044 under its AOC, at least initially. Zongteng Group also owns logistics company YunExpress, which has two 777Fs operated on its behalf by Central Airlines . With unit 35044’s redelivery, the number of 737-800 freighters registered to Chinese carriers will soon reach forty . Excluding Xiamen, the freighters — all BCFs — are spread across six operators: China Postal Airlines; JD Airlines ; Air Central; Central Airlines ; Tianjin Air Cargo , and Shandong Airlines .
