IAG Cargo’s Head of Innovation joins Cargo Facts EMEA 2020 speaker faculty

Carly Morris, head of innovation at IAG Cargo, will be speaking in Session 5 at Cargo Facts EMEA 2020.

Given that innovation is a core aspect of Cargo Facts EMEA, we’re excited that Morris will be joining us. In her role, Morris looks at the latest technologies and assesses their suitability for the air freight industry. She is also closely involved with Hangar 51, the startup accelerator set up by parent company International Airlines Group, which includes British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling and Level.

While IAG Cargo has been working with its finalist to test the use of machine learning for ULD management, other recent projects the carrier has itself been looking into include the development of autonomous drones, virtual reality and 3D-scanning technology.

“A big part of our job is to make sure that we are on top of the current trends in technology and that we are involved with different startup networks and technology networks,” Morris tells Cargo Facts. “We need to be aware of what’s going on, and aware of different companies that might be able to help us to solve some of those problem statements that we collect from around the business. It’s a big part of our responsibility.”
