New Latin Connections for KF Cargo’s DC-10-30Fs

Canada-based KF Cargo put two of its DC-10-30 freighters back into operation with the launch of new services to Bogota, Caracas and Lima via Miami. Both Miami-to-Bogota and Miami-to-Lima via Caracas will operate three times weekly.

Economic weakness in South America has begun to alter routing and flight schedules in the region. Cargo Facts has received reports that LATAM Cargo effectively eliminated service to Bogota, which was once served as a stopover destination between airports in Brazil and Miami, so perhaps it is not surprising that KF has moved to fill the gap. Oddly, it will be competing with fellow Canadian carrier Air Canada, which last week announced it would launch 767-300F service from Toronto to Bogota and Lima via Atlanta, using freighters operated on an ACMI basis by Cargojet. For more details, see: Air Canada eyes South America- Europe air bridge.

KF Cargo (previously known as Kelowna Flightcraft), lost its bread-and-butter contract to provide overnight service to Purolator last year, leaving it with a fleet of underutilized aircraft. The DC-10 freighters were then put into service on the trans-Atlantic, but were parked earlier this year when those routes proved unprofitable.

Now for a few videos of KF Cargo’s DC-10Fs with their simple but sleek livery.
