Last year, Mas expanded with Airbus and Boeing widebodies, receiving four A330P2Fs and a 767-300BDSF — including the first A330-200P2F redelivery in two years for Elbe Flugzeugwerke. The airline also acquired a 49% stake in Malta-based carrier Galistair Trading in its effort to grow its footprint in Europe after entering into an agreement with that carrier to operate a Mas A330-300P2F.
The carrier had begun 2022 with a rebrand and a pledge to add up to eighteen widebody freighters from 2020 through 2024.
Sierra joined Mas in 1994 and became chief executive in 2018. Until Sierra’s promotion to CEO, Mas was an affiliate of LATAM. Once he became CEO, Sierra engineered a deal with LATAM to create a new corporate structure and business plan for the Mexican carrier.
