Qantas launches Dallas Fort Worth air cargo service

Qantas Freight announced today that it will begin a weekly freighter service to Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) to bolster its route connecting Australia, China and the U.S. The carrier currently operates four weekly 747-400F freighter services connecting the three countries, and starting June 9, one of these flights will make an additional stop at Dallas Fort Worth on Thursday mornings. The full route for the flight will be Sydney-Chongqing-Shanghai-Chicago-Dallas-Los Angeles-Sydney.

Gareth Evans, Qantas CEO for International and Freight explained that, “Qantas already carries freight in the belly space of our daily A380 passenger services between Sydney and Dallas Fort Worth. The addition of this B747-400 freighter service now gives us capacity for main deck and oversize shipments.”

The midweek service focuses on bringing electronics, e-commerce, and general cargo into the U.S. from China, and DFW is an established exporter of a range of energy, mining and aerospace cargo from the U.S. bound for Australia. Since 1993, international cargo volumes out of DFW Airport have increased more than five-fold. DFW serves 16 major cargo hubs around the world, with Sydney soon to be added to the list.
