Raindo United Services takes first 737-800BCF

Indonesia-based startup Raindo United Services will soon begin operations after taking delivery of its first 737-800BCF. The converted freighter departed Boeing’s conversion facility in Shanghai (PVG) today and arrived in Jakarta (CGK) a few hours later. (Photo/Raindo United Services)[/caption] Raindo will initiate certification flights with the 2007-vintage 737-800BCF (32685, ex-Neos) as it undergoes the final phase of its air operator certificate, which the carrier expects to obtain by the end of the month, it told Cargo Facts . Unit 32685, which the carrier will lease from AerCap, arrived at PVG on Oct 22, 2022, ahead of conversion. Raindo, which previously told Cargo Facts it would lease narrowbody freighters from a leading aircraft lessor , expects to take delivery of a second 737-800BCF (32690) from AerCap in the next couple of months and plans to provide scheduled domestic and international service, the carrier said. As the airline finalizes preparations to launch, Raindo will become one of four Indonesian operators to fly 737-800 freighters, along with Rimbun Air , which has a 737-800SF, and My Indo Airlines and BBN Airlines Indonesia , which each have a 737-800BCF. AerCap has been active in building its clientele in the region and has placed freighters on lease with other carriers, including Tianjin Air Cargo and JD Airlines . With the Asia-Pacific region serving as a hub for e-commerce growth, Raindo joins the growing list of new carriers such as Budget Lines and Texel Air Australasia in providing air cargo service.
