Saudia Cargo’s refleet continues

Air Atlanta Icelandic acquired a 747-400ERF (32867, ex-Air France) and will operate it on an ACMI basis for Saudia Cargo.

This is part of a refleeting program forced on Saudia Cargo under a recently announced directive from the Saudi Arabian aviation authority requiring the Kingdom’s carriers to remove all aircraft over twenty years old from their fleets. Saudia currently operates two 747-8Fs and ACMI-leases eleven 747-400Fs (a mix of production and converted units) from Air Atlanta Icelandic and myCargo. Most of the 747-400Fs are over twenty years old, and so will have to be replaced.

The ex-Air France freighter that AAI will now operate for Saudia is just over 12 years old.
