Silk Way West takes CHAMP load-planning software live

Baku-based all-cargo airline Silk Way West Airlines went live with air cargo IT supplier CHAMP Cargosystems’ Weight & Balance load-planning software.

Load planners at the Azerbaijani carrier can now use the program to optimize the speed and accuracy of balancing loads for its 747 freighter fleet. The Weight & Balance software’s functions include an auto-load feature, with the ability to automatically plan freighter aircraft loading and off-loading on multiple flight legs. Load planners can subsequently ensure acceptable centers of gravity throughout flights and optimize fuel usage.

Emile Khasanshin, Silk Way West’s vice president of global operations, said the load-planning software meets the airline’s needs by “[letting] us simplify and streamline aircraft weight and balance work processes, while meeting our operational requirements and load restrictions.”

Silk Way is also using CHAMP’s Traxon Global Customs, Cargospot Airline and Cargospot Revenue applications for cargo management as the airline moves toward increasing its process digitalization. In October, Silk Way West also entered a multi-year deal with ACL Airshop to use its real-time Bluetooth-enabled ULD tracking technology.
