Turkish Airlines orders 3 more 777 freighters from Boeing

Turkish Airlines ordered three additional 777 freighters from Boeing, only weeks after the carrier took delivery of its first two 777Fs last month – suggesting that chief cargo officer Turhan Ozen is serious about expanding the carrier’s cargo business and ranking among the top five cargo players globally by 2023.

“These freighter orders will surely contribute to our significant target for establishing a young and efficient cargo fleet,” said M. İlker Aycı, Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines. According to Aycı, the new freighters will be delivered later in 2018.

According to Reuters, Turkish Airlines also signed a provisional agreement with Airbus for twenty-five A350-900 aircraft during an official visit by Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan to Paris on Jan. 5.
