Digital Pulse: Etihad Cargo launches instant offer rate tool

Etihad Cargo , the cargo and logistics arm of Etihad Airways, on Monday launched an instant offer rate tool that generates prices on the spot based on density, departure day, direct and indirect flights, flight demand and requested services. (Photo/Etihad Cargo)[/caption] This instant offer rate (IOR) tool boosts efficiency and is expected to reduce pricing transaction times by up to 70%, according to a release from Etihad Cargo. “By giving portal users instant access to prices based on their unique requirements, partners and customers have all the tools they need to make a booking within seconds and with the confidence their cargo will be transported across Etihad Cargo’s global network safely, securely and reliably at the most competitive price,” Leonard Rodrigues , head of revenue management and network planning at Etihad Cargo, said in the release. Prior to launching the IOR solution, Etihad Cargo’s booking portal included features enabling customers to book transport for dogs, cats and dangerous goods, according to the release. FourKites increases visibility Supply chain visibility platform provider FourKites last week launched its Inbound Visibility solution, which uses predictive analytics and real-time data to help customers identify potential disruptions and prioritize responses to manage inbound orders and multimodal shipments from end to end. The solution “provides deep inbound shipment- and order-level insights across all modes to all stakeholders in a secure, integrated platform,” according to a release from FourKites. Each detected disruption is assigned a dollar amount, showing how much a customer stands to lose, which helps prioritize remedies. Inbound Visibility is offered on FourKite’s My Workspace platform. WestJet Cargo, Flexport collaborate WestJet Cargo will offer new channels for Canadian exports to reach Asia through an agreement with Flexport , according to a Monday release from the companies. WestJet Cargo has agreed to deliver Canadian cargo to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD), where Flexport operates freighters to airfreight hubs in Asia, including Incheon International Airport (ICN), Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), according to the release. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with WestJet Cargo to provide a creative, dependable airfreight solution for Canadian exporters looking for greater access to Asian markets,” Neel Jones Shah , Flexport’s executive vice president of global key accounts and chief customer officer, said in the release. “By creating a fast lane for Canadian exporters to move their goods, we can break down global trade barriers and boost export volumes for these producers.” The venture will initially prioritize perishable goods airfreight, and WestJet Cargo plans to introduce seasonal flights from Vancouver, British Columbia, to ICN to transport cherries, according to the release. Once perishable goods operations are running, the companies plan to explore specialized and high-value commodities airfreight. “Using ORD as a connection point, we are seamlessly able to transfer cargo within a matter of hours, further ensuring the freshness and integrity of key Canadian perishable exports,” Kirsten De Bruijn , executive vice president of cargo at WestJet Cargo, said in the release.
