Fraport plans to reduce CO2 emissions by half

Fraport AG has released plans in a “sustainability report” to reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions across its entire group, in compliance with goals established at the United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Paris in 2015.

Fraport said that Frankfurt Airport (FRA), specifically, will reduce emissions by about half, which would be 125,000 metric tonnes by 2030. In 2017, emissions amounted to about 210,000 metric tons.

“Growth and responsibility are not mutually exclusive but belong together,” said Fraport AG’s executive board chairman Stefan Schulte. “In the spirit of corporate responsibility, we have firmly embedded climate protection in our group companies to make a positive contribution to this worldwide effort.  To achieve our CO₂ goals, we will continue to improve the energy efficiency ratings of our buildings, facilities and processes.”
