Kargo Xpress targets 737F and 767F additions

Kargo Xpress plans to grow its fleet with both narrowbodies and widebodies as it expands its operations beyond Malaysia’s borders. The startup, which recently obtained its operating license and began service with a 737-400F (26605, ex-Connect Cargo) in June, told Cargo Facts that it expects to add two 737-800Fs in the fourth quarter of 2021. Kargo Xpress also expects to receive two more 737-800Fs, one 737-400F and two 767-300Fs in 2022, it said. (Photo/Kargo Xpress)[/caption] The carrier could not immediately confirm which lessors are behind the freighters, but told our sister publication, Air Cargo World, that the fleet growth is driven, at least in part, by potential arrangements with e-commerce players including Alibaba and Lazada. The 1995-vintage unit 26605, which arrived in Kuala Lumpur (SZB) at the end of February 2021, is a PEMCO conversion on lease from Vallair . Lessors that Cargo Facts expects to have 737-800s completing conversion by the end of the year include GECAS, Aero Capital Solutions, BlackRock, AviaAM Leasing, Macquarie AirFinance and GA Telesis, while the source of the 767-300Fs could be Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM). Malaysia will become one of the few countries home to more than one 737NG freighter operator, joining the U.S., China and Georgia ; World Cargo Airlines, part of the Asia Cargo Network group, began flying Southeast Asia’s first 737-800BCF (29052, ex-Aeromexico) earlier this year, with potentially more to come. Meanwhile, Raya Airways, which leased another 767-200BDSF from CAM in April 2021, now has three 767-200Fs and a 737-400F. Malaysia has two other freighter operators: Malaysia Airlines, with three A330-200Fs, and My Jet Xpress, with a 737-400F and three 737-300Fs.
