Kale Info Solutions to implement CCS at YVR

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is the latest airport to adopt Kale Info Solution’s Cargo Community System (CCS) to support cargo throughput, improve efficiency and streamline cargo flow. The company is the U.S. subsidiary of India logistics software provider Kale Logistics Solutions. The CCS enables shipment notifications between shippers, agents, trucks, cargo handlers and carriers, giving real-time updates and added transparency on arrival times and cargo details, according to a July 5 release. [caption id="attachment_57065886" align="alignright" width="300"] © Can Stock Photo / Josefhanus[/caption] The system also provides truck slot booking, allowing trucking companies and ground handlers to coordinate freight movement to reduce wait times and consequently congestion and pollution. Kale will implement a proof-of-concept CCS ahead of the full rollout to identify urgent issues and create changes in the platform to maximize benefits to the community, Amar More, director at Kale Info Solutions, told Air Cargo World. Airports have looked to digitalize processes to gain data transparency and streamline operations amid elevated volumes, trucking congestion and staffing challenges exacerbated by the pandemic. “Having the ability to make sure that all of this information at the exchange of when cargo is moving, and that information exchange being shared across the board, helps each entity to be more proactive, as opposed to reactive,” Donna Mullins, vice president at Kale Info Solutions, said at the recent Air Cargo Tech Summit . Implementing a CCS also puts YVR at the forefront of digitalization within the air cargo community, More said. “They can leverage this strategically to increase their market share versus other airports in the catchment area and create digital trade lanes with strategically important airports, where there are opportunities to incubate the further development of key trade lanes,” More said. YVR moved 22,228 tonnes of cargo in April, an 11.1% increase year over year, and has moved 88,928 tonnes of cargo so far in 2022, also a 11.1% increase YoY, according to Vancouver International Airport’s air traffic statistics . YVR is one of several Canadian airports using technology to enhance cargo operations. In June, the Canadian government announced plans to invest in supply chain efficiency at the country’s airports to support economic recovery. The Ministry of Transport and NAV Canada will devote $77 million Canadian dollars ($59 million) to improving tech and infrastructure at Montreal-Trudeau (YUL), Toronto Pearson (YYZ), Calgary (YYC) and YVR in response to increased air traffic demand. Kale has plans to implement its CCS in more than 45 airports globally, More said. In March, Kale piloted its truck slot and dock CCS with ground handler Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) in New York. Over the past two years, Kale has established a CCS at Bangalore International Airport (BLR) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) . Kale Logistics previously told Air Cargo World that it also plans to implement a CCS in South America.
