AerCap increases 737-800BCF portfolio to 50

AerCap, the launch customer of Boeing’s 737-800BCF freighter conversion program and the recipient of the program’s 100th redelivery, has another reason to celebrate with Boeing after taking redelivery of its fiftieth 737-800 conversion. The 2007-vintage 737-800BCF (36146) will return to service with Brazil-based GOL after being converted at the Cooperativa Autogestionaria de Servicios Aeroindustriales (COOPESA) facility in San Jose (SJO) to support Latin American e-commerce giant Mercado Libre [ FATs 008463-8465 ]. (Photo/Belo Horizonte International Airport)[/caption] Unit 36146 arrived at SJO in June 2022 ahead of its conversion with Boeing. One of the six units GOL placed a lease order for with AerCap became Boeing’s 100th 737-800BCF redelivery , when the world’s largest lessor took delivery of the 2006-vintage unit 34279 in September 2022. That aircraft was also previously part of GOL’s passenger fleet. AerCap, which merged with General Electric Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) in November 2021, was the launch customer for the 737-800BCF conversion program, which redelivered its first 737-800 freighter in April 2018. Boeing has since led all of the 737-800 passenger-to-freighter conversion programs with around ninety 737-800BCFs flying air cargo with operators globally. To address the growing demand for conversions, Boeing announced its plans to add more 737-800BCF conversion lines at COOPESA and Boeing’s own London Gatwick MRO facility by the end of 2022. The planemaker also expects to launch a new line at the KF Aerospace facility in Kelowna (YLW) this year. AerCap has leased 737-800BCFs to customers like West Atlantic, Amazon, Kargo Xpress and JD Airlines, to name a few.
