CFS 2019: Could LATAM Cargo make narrowbody freighters work in its network?

SAN DIEGO – In March 2018, Santiago-headquartered LATAM Cargo offloaded the final two remaining 777Fs in its fleet, selling the pair to Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings.

As a replacement for the 777Fs, the carrier opted to convert three 767-300ERs from its passenger fleet to freighter configuration with Boeing. To date, two 767-300BCFs have been redelivered, and the third is expected later this year.

While LATAM Cargo has previously stated that it may eventually reintroduce large-widebody freighters to its fleet, might the carrier also consider narrowbody freighters?  At Cargo Facts Symposium 2019, Andres Bianchi, CEO, LATAM Cargo, discussed his airline’s prospects for smaller freighters.
