People: De Man appointed CEO of Maastricht Aachen

Maastricht Aachen Airport has appointed Cor de Man as its new chief executive, effective Feb. 1. De Man succeeds Jan Eerkens , who has served as the airport’s interim CEO since Nov. 1. [caption id="attachment_57293534" align="alignright" width="300"] Cor de Man[/caption] Eerkens assumed the role after former CEO Joost Meijs stepped down to become CEO at Luchtverkeersleiding Nederland , the air traffic controller for the Netherlands. Meijs became CEO at Maastricht Aachen (MST) in October 2024. Eerkens will remain involved to support the transition, according to a Dec. 3 release from MST. De Man is senior executive adviser at Global GSA Group . He has held leadership roles at Turkish Airlines , Broekman Logistics , DSV and UTi Worldwide . “The coming years are crucial for the further development of Maastricht Aachen Airport,” de Man said in the release. “The foundation has been laid [and] cargo is showing an upward trend.” The CEO role extends across MST’s holding company, N.V. Holding B.V. Luchthaven Maastricht , as well as MST’s management and infrastructure entity, Maastricht Aachen Airport Beheer & Infra . AAR names Flanagan interim CFO [caption id="attachment_57293536" align="alignright" width="198"] Sarah Flanagan[/caption] AAR Corp. has named Sarah Flanagan as interim chief financial officer, effective Dec. 11. Flanagan succeeds Sean Gillen , who will leave AAR to pursue opportunities outside of aviation, according to a Dec. 4 release from AAR . Gillen has been with AAR since January 2019. Flanagan, who joined AAR in 2012, was appointed corporate officer and vice president of financial operations in 2017. This appointment expanded her previous role as group CFO for Aviation Services, AAR’s largest business segment, the release said. Flanagan previously worked at Honeywell and PricewaterhouseCoopers . ICAO Council elects Onuma to be president [caption id="attachment_57293537" align="alignright" width="203"] Toshiyuki Onuma[/caption] The ICAO Council, the thirty-six-member governing body of the International Civil Aviation Organization , elected Toshiyuki Onuma of Japan for a three-year term as president, effective Jan. 1. Onuma succeeds Salvatore Sciacchitano of Italy, who held the position for two consecutive terms since 2020, according to a Nov. 26 release from ICAO. Onuma has more than twenty years of experience shaping aviation policy, the release said. He has served as senior deputy director-general and assistant vice minister for international aviation at the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau . Longtime PANYNJ executive director to retire [caption id="attachment_57293535" align="alignright" width="221"] Rick Cotton[/caption] Rick Cotton , who has been executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) since August 2017, will retire from the agency in January, according to a Nov. 24 release. PANYNJ said it will announce Cotton’s successor “in due course.” Cotton’s eight and half years at PANYNJ makes him the agency’s longest serving executive director since the 1940s. Prior to joining PANYNJ, Cotton served as New York State’s special counsellor to the governor for interagency initiatives, where he focused on the state’s infrastructure projects at LaGuardia (LGA) and JFK airports. He also spent more than twenty-five years at NBC Universal . Wong to succeed Menon as AAPA director general [caption id="attachment_57293538" align="alignright" width="220"] Wong Hong[/caption] The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) has named Wong Hong director general, effective April 1. He will succeed Subhas Menon , who has been director general since 2020. As director general, Wong will represent the interests of the AAPA and its eighteen member airlines regarding aviation policy issues, according to a Dec. 1 release from the AAPA. Wong has more than twenty-two years of international aviation experience, having held senior commercial roles in network planning, revenue management and sales at Singapore Airlines and Delta Air Lines , according to the release. He has been Delta’s president for greater China and Singapore since April 2017. He has also held roles at SATS and IATA . Scott appointed UK national manager at Kuehne+Nagel [caption id="attachment_57293533" align="alignright" width="218"] Aaron Scott[/caption] Kuehne+Nagel has appointed Aaron Scott as national manager for United Kingdom, effective May 1, according to a Nov. 18 release from the freight forwarder. With more than three decades of leadership experience within logistics and supply chains, Scott is senior vice president of contract logistics for Benelux, U.K. and Ireland at DSV. He has also held leadership roles at DB Schenker , EV Cargo Logistics and DHL Supply Chain .
