January saw several key appointments and promotions within the air cargo industry. Geraghty to pilot JetBlue as CEO [caption id="attachment_57140345" align="alignright" width="221"] Joanna Geraghty[/caption] JetBlue Airways announced in January that Joanna Geraghty , the company’s president and chief operating officer, will succeed Robin Hayes as chief executive and member of the company’s board of directors, effective Feb. 12. Hayes, who is retiring, will serve as a strategic adviser to the company over the coming months, according to a release from the company. Geraghty has been with JetBlue for nearly 20 years. The company named her as president and COO in 2018, making her responsible for the airline’s operations and commercial performance, including network, brand and marketing, and revenue management. Geraghty previously served as JetBlue’s executive vice president of customer experience, chief people officer, associate general counsel and director of litigation and regulatory affairs. “With a rigorous succession plan in place, the board and I are confident that Joanna is more than ready given her critical role in running JetBlue’s day-to-day business and positioning the airline for success,” Hayes said in the release. “She guided the operation through the most turbulent time in airline history [and] has overseen the development and execution of new commercial initiatives.” Mosqueira named ops director at Frankfurt Cargo Services [caption id="attachment_57140343" align="alignright" width="212"] Federico Mosqueira[/caption] Frankfurt Cargo Services (FCS), the largest independent cargo handler at Frankfurt Airport (FRA), appointed Federico Mosqueira director of operations effective Jan. 1. Mosqueira succeeded Christoph Cyranek , who took over the position from Markus Schneefuss on an interim basis in August. With more than 20 years of experience in the industry, Mosqueira worked for LATAM Airlines in roles in Mexico, Central America and the United States and for Qatar Airways as manager of cargo network operation, based in Doha. He most recently worked at Amazon , where he worked to launch Amazon Air in Europe, according to a release from FCS. “Federico Mosqueira is an absolute industry expert, has an excellent network and is already familiar with the Frankfurt location,” FCS Chief Executive Claus Wagner said in the release. “We are convinced that he will quickly help us significantly in mastering the challenges that are currently driving the cargo industry.” Chapman Freeborn appoints Teplitskiy to key cargo role [caption id="attachment_57140344" align="alignright" width="203"] Leo Teplitskiy[/caption] Gatwick, U.K.-based global air specialist Chapman Freeborn , which is part of Avia Solutions Group , appointed Leo Teplitskiy director of key cargo accounts for the Americas. Teplitskiy will oversee all account operations of the company’s air cargo team to expand the company’s client and supplier base across the region, according to a Jan. 31 release from the company. With more than two decades of experience in global aviation, Teplitskiy joins Chapman Freeborn from DHL , where for the past seven years he served as manager of air product capacity, pricing and charter operations for its U.S. industrial project division. He began his career at Lufthansa . “Having had the great pleasure of working alongside Chapman Freeborn in the past, it’s a privilege to be joining the company,” Teplitskiy said in the release. “2024 will be a pivotal year for the growth of Chapman Freeborn’s air cargo charter operations.” Zach to head ground services at Vienna Airport [caption id="attachment_57140349" align="alignright" width="232"] Michael Zach[/caption] Flughafen Wien AG , the authority overseeing Vienna International Airport (VIE), appointed Michael Zach head of ground services at VIE to start the new year. Zach will manage ground handling services, including cargo, baggage and ramp-handling, as well as aircraft de-icing, according to a release from the airport authority. Zach succeeds Franz Spitzer , who “is moving into semi-retirement after a career of almost 30 years at the airport,” according to the release. Zach has worked at the airport since 2006 and has been responsible for sales and finance. He had overseen cargo operations within the handling services division since 2018. “Since 2018, I have been able to help develop ground handling at Vienna Airport together with Franz Spitzer,” Zach said in the release. “I am very pleased to now have the opportunity to assume overall responsibility for ground handling services at the airport.” Argac becomes CCO Germany at Hellmann [caption id="attachment_57140346" align="alignright" width="277"] Former Hellmann CCO for Germany Kai Hasenpusch, left, congratulates his successor, Bora Argac. He succeeds Kai Hasenpusch , who became sales director for roadfreight for West Europe at the beginning of 2024, according to a recent company release. Argac has previously worked for Expeditors , Hermes and, most recently, Kuehne+Nagel as a sales manager across all modes of transport. “We are delighted to have found in Bora Argac an experienced and at the same time highly committed driving force as CCO for Hellmann in Germany,” Sven Eisfeld , Hellmann’s chief executive for Germany, said in the release. “We will continue to drive forward the growth of our German country organization.” Rohlig appoints Passek to manage China, Hong Kong ops [caption id="attachment_57140348" align="alignright" width="156"] Christoph Passek[/caption] Bremen, Germany-based Rohlig Logistics has appointed Christoph Passek managing director for China and Hong Kong. Passek joined Rohlig China in 2020 as general manager commercial and has 20 years of industry experience, according to a company release. The company also divided its China operations into four regions, each with a general manager: North China; East China; South China and Hong Kong; and West China. “Our new set-up will enable us to be even more customer-centric and adaptable to China’s diverse industrial landscape,” Passek said in the release. “The area general managers will ensure that the individual circumstances of their branches are addressed while supporting our overall strategy.” Kraemer to oversee sales, marketing at DoKaSch [caption id="attachment_57140347" align="alignright" width="224"] Martin Kraemer[/caption] Air cargo equipment manufacturer DoKaSch welcomed Martin Kraemer as vice president of sales and marketing on Jan. 1 at its headquarters in Staudt, Germany. Kraemer began his aviation career as a management consultant and later joined Lufthansa Group , where he held numerous leadership positions in sales and marketing during the past 25 years. DoKaSch Managing Director Stefanie Dommermuth said in a release that Kraemer’s “expertise in both sales and marketing will further strengthen [DoKaSch’s] global market position and expansion.” ASM adds 57 years of combined experience to board [caption id="attachment_57140342" align="alignright" width="300"] From left are David Baker, Stuart Campey and Dave Allen. (Courtesy/ASM)[/caption] Customs clearance software provider Agency Sector Management (ASM) has appointed to its board of directors David Baker , Stuart Campey and Dave Allen , who bring more than 57 years of combined customs and forwarding experience, according to a company release. The board, comprising nine representatives from ASM’s Sequoia software users, is responsible for overseeing ASM’s 2024 strategy and finance operations, according to the release. “The ASM board ensures our software development is driven by the real-world needs of the forwarding community, rather than to satisfy any commercial imperatives of shareholders,” ASM General Manager Sharon Greer said in the release. “This year, we are in a strong position to prioritize developing Sequoia in line with what our users want, in addition to helping users navigate customs and Brexit-related changes in regulations.” Baker is managing director at customs specialist The George Baker Group ; Campey has served as chief executive of Customs Clearance Ltd. for the last decade; and Allen is the import manager at Dynamic International Freight Services Ltd.
