Digital Pulse: WebCargo launches Airline Dashboard with customer data

Digital cargo booking and payment platform WebCargo by Freightos launched its Airline Dashboard, on which the company’s more than 35 airline clients receive visibility into customer behavior across more than 10,000 forwarding offices, with the ability to adjust surcharges, services and more. The dashboard features nearly real-time data generated by analyzing tens of thousands of monthly e-bookings. It provides general industry data, including the Freightos Air Index with daily market pricing, as well as airline-specific lane-level insights, including market data on customer price sensitivity, how soon before departure the majority of customers book or cancel freight, data on origins and destinations, and other market trends. “WebCargo’s engineering team spent roughly a year developing our new Airline Dashboard and getting it ready for market,” Julien Triay , WebCargo sales director, told Air Cargo Next . “It’s a complex tool and the first of its kind, so our developers had to start from scratch. “It couldn’t have come at a better time,” he said about the dashboard. “As the air cargo market softens, having a tool that gives airlines critical insights into demand patterns and pricing, and the ability to make instant decisions to optimize their revenues and load factors is invaluable. There’s also a whole more exciting functionality coming soon; part of building this new product was creating a system that could be easy to build upon in order to develop more features for our airline customers.” One feature of the Airline Dashboard is look-to-book ratios, which show how often potential customers who see an offer actually book it. This also provides visibility into how customers weigh factors like price, transit time, weight-break or brand loyalty when making a booking. “The dashboard is an amazing tool not only to understand performance but also to adjust pricing strategy in real time,” Andres Romero , head of revenue management for American Airlines Cargo , said in a release. “Leveraging the data from the dashboard, we have been able to attract more revenue and adapt more quickly to market changes.” CSafe RKN offers -20 C setpoint Temperature-controlled shipping solutions provider CSafe plans to expand its active bulk air cargo container portfolio to integrate a new -20 C temperature setpoint for its RKN container. (Photo/CSafe)[/caption] The company will begin offering CSafe RKNs with the new frozen temperature setpoint on the control panel early next year. The CSafe RKN design requires minimal adjustment to accommodate the new temperature setpoint, limiting the need for additional customer training upon implementation. “Our engineering team designed our RKN in a way that we could easily add frozen temperature setpoints in the future,” CSafe Chief Operating Officer Tom Weir said in a release. CSafe RKNs with the -20 C setpoint capability will be available for lease in early 2024. “The CSafe RKN uses a temperature management system in conjunction with integrated sensor technology,” Weir told Air Cargo Next . “Customers can use predictive and real-time proprietary models within our CSafe Connect platform. The predictive model allows users to better understand how the container will perform on a given lane based on analysis of historical ambient temperature, operational qualification data and integrated real-time tracking data from the CSafe RKN and predictive models. “Further data streams are used to monitor and overlay shipment delays associated with flights and road transport,” he continued. “This enables the highest level of visibility and contingency planning to ensure the product arrives at the correct temperature.” The container’s sustainable design provides a lower energy active system, while maintaining temperature control. “ Sustainability is at the core of our innovation via selection of best-in-class vacuum-insulated panel technology, an optimal temperature management system and an innovative air recirculation system, all designed to support optimized shipping and reduction of environmental impact,” Weir told Air Cargo Next . “Sustainability is further enhanced by the reusability of the container. Our Preventive Maintenance Rebuild program ensures CSafe RKNs maintain the highest performance levels for the life of each container and every component is recyclable.” Flutterwave joins IFG African payment technology company Flutterwave has joined IATA ’s payment orchestration platform to facilitate travel to sub-Saharan Africa. (Photo/Flutterwave)[/caption] The IATA Financial Gateway (IFG) is an omnichannel payment orchestration and management platform that allows airlines to receive payments from local markets throughout their distribution channels. IATA has about 290 international airline members; this partnership enables them to expand their operations in Africa more easily while receiving bookings and payments from customers in Africa using local and international payments methods available on Flutterwave. “According to IATA, Africa is set to become one of the fastest growing aviation regions in the next 20 years with an annual expansion of nearly 5%,” Flutterwave founder and Chief Executive Olugbenga Agboola said in a release. “This partnership with IATA solves the problem of payments for global airlines venturing into Africa. We hope that this encourages more global airlines to expand into Africa.” Flutterwave uses Microsoft Azure for its cloud services and code in various languages across products, according to Agboola. “Since inception, the business has processed over 400 million transactions in excess of USD $25 billion and serves more than one million businesses,” Agboola told Air Cargo Next . “With Flutterwave’s robust payment infrastructure and IATA’s industry knowledge and reach, we anticipate a marked increase in transactions processed through the gateway, ultimately benefiting both businesses and customers in the region.” cargonerds connects system to WebCargo Software company cargonerds is partnering with WebCargo by Freightos to help small- and medium-sized freight forwarders process airfreight rates digitally. The collaboration enables freight forwarders to process airfreight faster and more efficiently via the WebCargo platform, which is connected to the cargonerds systems with a standard interface.
