Widebody freighter transactions accelerate during first half of May

[caption id="attachment_14502" align="alignright" width="450"] SF Airlines took redelivery of another 767-300F after it was converted by Boeing in Taipei.[/caption] During the first fifteen days of May 2019, Cargo Facts recorded a total of fifteen freighter aircraft transactions, up three transactions month-over-month from April. In a major shift from last month, transactions involving widebody freighters represented 80% of the transactions during this period (twelve units) compared to just five units last month. Below, we include the transactions from recent issues of Cargo Facts Update , and we encourage you to make use of the FAT database here on our website. UPS took delivery of a 747-8F (64621) ferried from Boeing’s Paine Field (PAE) to Louisville International Airport (SDF) [FAT 004859]. UPS is the only named carrier with additional 747-8F orders listed in Boeing’s backlog, and with this most recent delivery, the express operator is awaiting seventeen more deliveries based on its current outstanding orders. Cargolux acquired two 747-400ERFs (35232,35234) both previously operated by ASL Airlines Belgium [FAT 004858, 004878]. Air Atlanta Icelandic acquired a 747-400BDSF (27898, ex-EVA Airways) [FAT 004871]. National Airlines acquired three 747-400BCFs (25068, 26547 and 27217, all ex-Cathay Pacific) from Boeing Aircraft Holding Company [FATs 004875-4877]. Taiwan-based China Airlines ordered three 777Fs and has options for three more under a Memorandum of Understanding with Boeing [FATs 004861-4866]. FedEx took delivery of a 777F (37731) from Boeing [FAT 004879]. The new aircraft was flown from Paine Field (PAE) to the FedEx World Hub in Memphis (MEM). FedEx also took delivery of a 767-300F (64056) from Boeing [FAT 004872]. ATSG to dry lease 767-300Fs to UPS. In its first-quarter earnings release, ATSG announced that it had secured a new agreement with UPS to dry lease at least four 767-300BDSFs to the Atlanta-based integrator [FATs 004867-4870]. As part of the agreement, Cargo Aircraft Management, the company’s leasing affiliate, will deploy four freighter-converted 767-300Fs to UPS during the second half of 2019. SF Airlines took redelivery of a 767-300BCF (28979, ex-TUI Airways), following conversion to freighter configuration by Boeing at its authorized conversion center in Taipei (TPE) [FAT 004880]. Cargo Aircraft Management took redelivery of a 767-300BDSF (26912) following its conversion to freighter configuration with IAI [FAT 004881]. This is the second of three ex-Air New Zealand 767s acquired by CAM since 2018 – the first (26915) was redelivered by IAI in December 2018, and the third (26913) is in storage at Wilmington Airpark (ILN). Cargo Facts expects the third unit will also eventually make its way to an IAI MRO facility. Cargo Aircraft Management also acquired a 767-300 (24983, ex-Delta) and ferried it from Wilmington (ILN) to Shannon (SNN) ahead of expected conversion to freighter conversion [FAT 004882]. CargoLogic Germany acquired a 737-400F (27673, ex-NewGen Airways) on lease from Vx Capital Partners, following conversion to freighter configuration by AEI at the KF Aerospace facility in Kelowna (YLW), the aircraft was ferried to Leipzig (LEJ) [FAT 004883]. Automatic LLC ferried a 737-300QC (28054, ex-Mistral Air) to San Jose (SVO) for conversion to full-freighter configuration by PEMCO at the Coopesa facility [FATs 004873-4874]. Aeronaves TSM ferried an MD-83 (53122) for passenger-to-freighter conversion with Aeronautical Engineers, Inc., at the Commercial Jet facility in Miami [FAT 004860].
