December caps off slower 2024 for FATs

Freighter aircraft transactions dropped to fifty-two in December 2024, almost a 50% year-over-year decrease compared with the 103 FATs Cargo Facts recorded in December 2023. Together with the fifty-seven FATs each month in October and November 2024, the fourth quarter’s total number of FATs came to 166. That brought the second half of 2024’s FATs to 388 for a total of 841 transactions in 2024, about 15% fewer than 2023. Widebody highlights for December 2024 included China Airlines committing to an order for four 777-8Fs, while Maersk and Kalitta Air each took delivery of a 777 production freighter. Meanwhile, 767 freighters also saw plenty of activity in December. Ethiopian Airlines and Geosky both took delivery of aircraft on lease from another carrier, while Cargojet received a production 767-300F and Amazon continued reassigning its 767s from Atlas Air to 21 Air. Narrowbody transactions were mixed, with current- and next-generation movement in December. Of note, SF Airlines added the first 737-800BCF to its fleet, joining seven other Chinese operators of the type. In Europe, ASL Airlines began operating its first 737-800BDSF on behalf of DHL Express. In the regional segment, FedEx continued to ramp up its feeder fleet after taking delivery of three Cessna 408 SkyCouriers, placing them all with Corporate Air. Air Atlanta Icelandic reactivated a 747-400F (33732, ex-China Airlines) and began operating it on an ACMI basis for Network Aviation [FATs 10241-10242]. Maersk took delivery of a 777F (67866) from Boeing [FAT 10201]. Kalitta Air took delivery of a 777F (35609, ex-Emirates) on lease from DAE Capital [FATs 10256-10257]. FedEx retired an MD-11F (48528) and placed it in storage in Victorville (VCV) [FAT 10233]. CAM inducted for conversion an A330-300 (1278, ex-China Airlines). The aircraft will be converted with EFW in Istanbul (ISL) [FAT 10205]. JLPS Ireland took redelivery of an A330-300P2F (1510, ex-Philippine Airlines) and will placed it on lease to MNG Airlines [FATs 10248-10249]. Ethiopian Airlines took delivery of two 767-300Fs (67023 and 67024) on lease from Air Canada [FATs 10211-10213 and 10234]. Cargojet acquired a 767-300F (30780, ex-LATAM) from Jetran [FAT 10220]. FedEx took delivery of a 767-300F (67539) from Boeing [FAT 10230]. Geosky took delivery of a 767-300BCF (28043, ex-Azur Air) on lease from Saltchuk Aviation [FATs 10199-10200]. Amazon transferred a 767-300BCF and a 767-300BDSF (27960, ex-Mega Global Air, and 27310, ex-Nordwind Airlines) from Atlas Air to 21 Air for CMI operation [FATs 10214-10215 and 10239-10240]. My Freighter took delivery of a 767-300BDSF (26987, ex-Condor) on lease from CAM [FATs 10231-10232]. SF Airlines took redelivery of a 767-300BCF (29387, ex-Condor) after conversion with Boeing in Guangzhou (CAN) [FAT 10255]. Air Lease Corp. inducted for conversion an A330-200 (1218, ex-Alitalia). The aircraft will be converted with EFW in Dresden (DRS) and return on lease to Awesome Cargo [FATs 10227-10229]. DHL Express transferred two A300-600Fs (859 and 860) from Air Hong Kong to ASL Airlines Ireland for CMI operation [FATs 10221-10224]. AerSale took redelivery of a 757-200PCF (28833, ex-Air Astana) after conversion with Precision Aircraft Solutions [FATs 10225-10226]. Swiftair began operating two A321-200P2Fs (3966 and 3964, ex-Vietnam Airlines) on an ACMI basis for UPS [FATs 10236-10237]. Petrus Aerovista took redelivery of an A321-200PCF (1451, ex-Fly2Sky) after conversion with 321 Precision Conversions in Wichita (IAB) [FAT 10238]. JD Airlines took delivery of a 737-800BCF (30699, ex-China Southern Airlines) on lease from AerCap after conversion with Boeing in Jinan (TNA) [FATs 10202-10204]. DHL transferred a 737-800BDSF (30499, ex-Shenzen Airlines) from iAero Airways to ASL Airlines Ireland for CMI operation [FATs 10206-10207]. SF Airlines acquired a 737-800BCF (30718) from AerCap after conversion with Boeing in Jinan (TNA) [FATs 10208-10210]. BBAM took redelivery of a 737-800BCF (30696, ex-Air Transat) after conversion with Boeing in Kelowna (YLW) and placed it on lease to GOL [FATs 10243-10247]. ASL Airlines Ireland began operating a 737-800BCF (32686, ex-Shenzhen Airlines) on an ACMI basis for SolitAir [FAT 10254]. Africa Charter Airline acquired a 737-400SF (24917) from ASL Airlines [FAT 10216]. Asia Cargo Airlines returned two 737-300Fs (28401 and 28398, both ex-Southwest Airlines) off lease to Rostrum Leasing [FATs 10197-10198]. Xtreme Aviation acquired a 737-300BDSF (23513) from West Atlantic and placed the aircraft on lease to Sky High [FATs 10217-10219]. FedEx took delivery of three Cessna 408 SkyCouriers (408-0037, -0031 and 0040) [FATs 10235 and 10258-10259].
