Aided by an uptick in 777 freighter options and deliveries, the number of freighter aircraft transactions recorded by Cargo Facts in May equaled the previous month at thirty-eight, but decreased 60% year over year.

Overall, widebody activity remained strong in May, accounting for 68% of the monthly transactions at twenty-five.

777 aircraft led all widebody transactions with thirteen. Boeing delivered two 777 production freighters to Emirates and one each to Atlas Air, China Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines and FedEx.

China Airlines became the first customer in three years to place an order for the 777-8F when the carrier announced a deal with Boeing in May for four of the new production freighters with options for four more.

China-based Central Airlines took delivery of a 777F (35611, ex-Emirates) on lease from DAE Capital for its own operations while Horseshoe Bay, Texas-based lessor Jetran acquired a 777-200LR ahead of conversion.

Although UPS retired another MD-11F from service, medium-widebody freighter transactions ramped up in May with Turkey-based ULS Airlines taking delivery of an A330-300P2F (356, ex-Sunclass Airlines) and beginning operations with it on an ACMI basis for Turkish Airlines .

The majority of the 767 freighter transactions logged in May involved ex-Condor units converted by IAI. Uzbekistan-based My Freighter took delivery of two 767-300BDSFs (26984 and 26986) on lease from CAM, while Canada-based Cargojet took redelivery of 1999-vintage 767-300BDSF (29383) also previously flown by Condor.

A321 freighter expansion in the Asia-Pacific region was a highlight among May’s narrowbody freighter transactions, with China-based Nanning Communications Investment Group acquiring at least two ex-SmartLynx A321-200PCFs (2303 and 1487) and preparing to place at least one with Royal Air Philippines .

China Airlines added options for four 777-8Fs from Boeing [FATs 10463-10466].

Atlas Air took delivery of a 777F (69787) from Boeing [FAT 10457].

Emirates took delivery of a 777F (68619) from Boeing [FAT 10458].

FedEx took delivery of a 777F (66266) from Boeing [FAT 10471].

China Airlines took delivery of a 777F (68060) from Boeing [FAT 10477].

Central Airlines took delivery of a 777F (35611, ex-Emirates) on lease from DAE Capital [FATs 10478-10480].

Ethiopian Airlines took delivery of a 777F (68141) from Boeing [FAT 10487].

Jetran acquired a 777-200LR (36306, ex-Air India) [FAT 10470].

UPS retired an MD-11F (48803) and placed it in storage in Roswell (ROW) [FAT 10475].

ULS Airlines Cargo took delivery of an A330-300P2F (356, ex-Sunclass Airlines) on lease from CAM and began operating it on an ACMI basis for Turkish Airlines [FATs 10468-10469].

Titan Aircraft Investments acquired two A330-300s [FATs 10461-10462].

My Freighter took delivery of two 767-300BDSFs (26984 and 26986, ex-Condor) on lease from CAM [FATs 10459-10460 and 10485-10486].

Cargojet took redelivery of a 767-300BDSF (29383, ex-Condor) after conversion with IAI in Tel Aviv (TLV) [FAT 10476].

FedEx took delivery of a 767-300F (67542) from Boeing [FAT 10491].

Swiftair placed a lease order for three A321-200Fs , including one (3749, ex-Titan Airways) from BBAM [FATs 10454-10456].

Sichuan Aviation Industry Development took redelivery of an A321-200PCF (3013, ex-Vietnam Airlines) after conversion with 321 Precision Conversions in Chengdu (CTU) [FAT 10484].

Nanning Communications Investment Group acquired two A321-200PCFs (2303 and 1487, both ex-SmartLynx) from Cross Ocean Partners [FATs 10488-10489 and 10473-10474].

Oman Air sold a 737-800BCF (35108) [FAT 10472].

Asia Cargo Airlines took delivery of a 737-800SF (35217, ex-SpiceJet) on lease from Transcend Aero Services [FATs 10481-10483].

KF Aerospace took redelivery of an ATR 72-500F (707, ex-Mistral Air) after conversion according to the IPR Conversions STC in Kelowna (YLW) [FAT 10490].
