767-300 Freighter Update

Though most of the attention on Boeing over the last two years has been focused on the 777F, the 747-8F, and the 787, deliveries, and even orders, for the 767 program continue. 20 767s, all -300ERs, were delivered in 2011 with five being freighters for UPS and the rest a mixture of passenger aircraft for JAL, ANA, LAN, and Azerbaijan Airlines. ANA took delivery of the 1000th 767 on Feb. 23, 2011.

LAN and MIAT Mongolian announced eleven new orders for 767-300ERs in 2011, and Air Astana ordered four on Feb. 23rd, 2012, but the big news for the order book came with FedEx’s order for 27 300ERF’s at the tail end of 2011. The line, of course, will also produce the 767-based KC-46 tanker for the US Air Force, based on the 767-200ER.

N349UP (msn: 37947) is the 15th delivery in an order of 27 that UPS placed in 2007 and will bring UPS’ 767-300ERF fleet to 47 – more than 70% of the 66 767-300 freighters Boeing has built since the 767-300 freighter program began in 1995.

A new operator will join the 767-300ERF family in 2012 when Azerbaijan Airlines receives its first example later this year. The Baku-based flag carrier placed an order for two 767-300ERFs in 2010.
