Michael Steen, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of Atlas Air Worldwide, will be speaking at Cargo Facts Symposium 2020.

Cargo Facts is pleased to announce that Michael Steen, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of Atlas Air Worldwide, will be speaking at Cargo Facts Symposium 2020.

Steen will speak on a virtual roundtable session dedicated to the topic of widebody freighters, titled, “Big birds and plenty of pallets: Will renewed interest in widebody freighters last?” The session runs from 4:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Cargo Facts Symposium is the leading airfreight conference, and it remains vitally crucial to the industry during the COVID-19 crisis. This year’s virtual event runs Oct. 27-28 on a digital platform that allows for panels, live discussion and Q&A, as well as one-on-one networking. More information, along with the complete conference agenda, is on the conference website.

Atlas is the world’s largest operator of 747 freighters, and in the last several months reactivated three previously parked converted 747-400Fs. With the 747 program’s end in 2022, Steen will share his insight into global demand for widebody lift, and a future with new-build 747Fs no longer being available.

Apart from 747 operations, Atlas has doubled-down on medium widebody operations in recent years, notably through 767-300F CMI operations for Amazon. Steen is also president and CEO of Atlas’ leasing affiliate, Titan Aviation Holdings, which leases nineteen of the type to Amazon and set up a freighter leasing joint venture with Bain Capital in December 2019.

Steen joined Atlas Air Worldwide in April 2007 and was appointed EVP in 2010. He is responsible for all aspects of the company’s global sales and marketing activities, including strategy, new products and services, brand positioning and marketing communications.
