Speaking at a press conference in Cairo in late November, and widely quoted in the Egyptian media, Bassem Gohar, CEO of Egyptair Cargo, said the carrier planned to add five freighters to its fleet: three A330-200s and two A320s, all converted from passenger configuration.
Egyptair became the launch customer for EFW’s A330 passenger-to-freighter conversion program with an order for two A330-200 P-to-F conversions in late 2014, but Mr Gohar’s statement indicates that not only has the carrier added a third A330-200 conversion order, but also will be the launch customer for the EFW’s A320 conversion program. EFW declined to comment, other than to say that it was in negotiations with Egyptair.
