BBAM further expands 737-800BCF portfolio

U.S.-based lessor BBAM increased its 737-800BCF order backlog with Boeing with six additional orders, and six options for the passenger-to-freighter conversion. (Photo/Boeing)[/caption] The order, announced today, adds to a three-unit conversion order announced last February , and takes BBAM’s total orders to nine firm, with options for six more. BBAM could not immediately be reached for comment. To date, the lessor has taken redelivery of four 737-800BCFs, leaving unfulfilled firm conversion orders at five units. Existing freighters are on lease to a mix of Asia-based operators. China Postal Airlines began leasing BBAM’s first two conversions in 2019 (30786 and 30787, both ex-China Southern). Late last year, Longhao Airlines and World Cargo Airlines each added to their fleet a BBAM-leased 737-800BCF (28608, ex-Air Italy, and 29052, ex-Aeromexico, respectively). BBAM has access to adequate conversion stock for the nine airframes, and six potential options. The lessor has a portfolio that includes 132 managed 737-800s, according to its website. BBAM is the first known lessor to have converted both 737-800s and A321-200s. It recently took redelivery of its first A321P2F (1238) from EFW and leased it to Titan Airways. Including BBAM’s most recent order, Boeing says it has logged more than 150 orders and commitments for 737-800BCF conversions.
