Cargolux takes 11th 747-8F, opens new sales division

Luxembourg-based all-cargo carrier Cargolux took delivery of its eleventh 747-8F (38077) from Boeing. The freighter rolled off Boeing’s production line in February of this year, but the carrier deferred delivery and had it stored at Marana (MZJ) in the interim. Cargolux will put the new freighter into service between Luxembourg and Zhengzhou, and said the freighter “will help us to strengthen our services between Luxembourg and the province of Henan.” Cargolux arranged financing for the freighter with Nord/LB and Deutsche Bank.

Cargolux opens new sales division. As part of a recent reorganization, Cargolux added a new “niche products” department within its Sales Division, to focus on high-value cargo and cargo requiring extra care. The move came in recognition of the growing importance of the pharma market. Stavros Evangelakakis, a board member of the Cool Chain Association, will share the leadership role of the new division with Eric Reisch. Evangelakakis will be responsible for pharmaceutical and biomed cargo, while Reisch will oversee the handling of oversized, bulky, heavy, dangerous, or live-animal freight.

The aircraft (L/N 1490, LX-VCJ, “City of Zhengzhou “) delivery flight via Seattle towards Luxembourg was at September 30.

A very violent “wing wave ” was performed during departure at Paine Field, see :
