After two postponements, Cargolux launched the much-anticipated service connecting Luxembourg with its new hub in Zhengzhou.
Service launch was twice postponed due to regulatory issues in China, but Cargolux confirmed that the first flight departed from Luxembourg Findel Airport (LUX) at 20:00 on 14 June, arriving at Xinzheng Airport (CGO) in the central Chinese city of Zhenghzhou at 15:30 on 15 June after a stop in Baku. The return leg also includes a stop, but in Novosibirsk, rather than Baku.
Initially, Cargolux will offer two weekly frequencies, but will double that to four next month, and then increase to six in September.
As we have reported in the past, implementation of LUX-CGO service, as part of a dual-hub strategy, is a requirment of the agreement under which Henan Civil Aviation and Investment Co. (HNCA) acquired a 35% stake in Cargolux.
