SF takes freighter fleet to 80

China-based SF Airlines has added its eightieth freighter, solidifying its position as the largest Asia-Pacific carrier in terms of freighter fleet size, by far. The 1998-vintage 28206 (ex-LATAM) landed at SF’s base in Shenzhen (SZX) on March 26 to become the airline’s nineteenth 767-300BCF. It arrived in Singapore (SIN) in August 2022 for conversion with Boeing [ FAT 008568 ]. (Photo/SF Airlines)[/caption] Like all but three of SF’s 767s, unit 28206 has CF6 engines. The nineteen medium-widebody freighters range from 2006- to 1996-vintage. SF Airlines continues to expand its fleet and expects to reach eighty-five freighters by yearend, the carrier told Cargo Facts . The eightieth redelivery coincided with the thirtieth anniversary of SF Express, the parent company of SF Airlines. SF is the largest operator of the 767-300BCF program and has at least four more on the way, including unit 30853 — the first 767 to undergo conversion at the ST Aerospace (Guangzhou) Aviation Services (STAG) facility in Guangzhou (CAN) — two others (33422 and 30854) at CAN and one (30841) that has yet to begin conversion. In addition to the nineteen 767-300BCFs, the SF fleet consists of three 747-400Fs, forty-one 757-200PCFs, three 737-400Fs and fourteen 737-300Fs. The carrier told Cargo Facts toward the end of 2022 that it expected to add at least five 767-300BCFs and 757-200PCFs in 2023 . At eighty units, SF has the largest freighter fleet by far in the Asia-Pacific region and is followed by Cathay Pacific at thirty-six and China Postal Airlines at twenty-nine.
