West Atlantic becomes World Star’s newest 737-800BCF customer

World Star Aviation has delivered the first of two 737-800BCFs to West Atlantic UK, the newest customer the lessor has added to its 737-800BCF portfolio. The 2001-vintage 737-800BCF (29788, ex-AirExplore) departed the Joramco facility in Amman, Jordan (AMM), on Dec. 15 and arrived in East Midlands (EMA) that day. (Courtesy/World Star Aviation)[/caption] World Star acquired unit 29788 and its sistership (29786) from Aergo Capital as part of its narrowbody freighter portfolio expansion strategy. The 2000-vintage unit 29786 is undergoing pre-delivery maintenance at Joramco before it also joins West Atlantic’s fleet, World Star told Cargo Facts . World Star is also planning to induct additional 737-800 freighters for conversion in Q1 2026, it said. The lessor still has six of the ten 737-800BDSF conversion slots it ordered with IAI in 2021 available after placing four aircraft with three carriers. Units 29788 and 29786 join three other 737-800BCFs that West Atlantic UK operates. The carrier also has five 737-400SFs, two of which are also on lease from World Star. West Atlantic parent Swiftair group, which on Oct. 1 announced the sale of a majority stake to Paris-headquartered private equity firm Antin Infrastructure Partners, told Cargo Facts in October that it was looking at options to replace its 737 Classics with NGs . Two carriers lease three 737-800BDSFs World Star placed three 737-800BDSFs with two carriers this year after delivering one (34970, ex-Royal Flight) to Ukraine-based SuperNova Airlines in the third quarter of 2024. One of those carriers is West Atlantic affiliate Swiftair, which — for the first time on its own — dry leased a 2004-vintage 737-800BDSF (34013) in August. The aircraft was ferried to Madrid (MAD) from AMM on Dec. 5. Two 737-800BDSFs (34014 and 33997, both ex-Virgin Australia) joined United Arab Emirates-based SolitAir after World Star reached a long-term lease deal with the startup , the lessor told Cargo Facts in June. The aircraft entered service in the fourth quarter. Philippines-based Skyway Airlines became the latest carrier to lease a 737 Classic freighter from World Star when the startup took delivery of one 737-400BDSF (27256) in June. One more 737-400SF (25773) will follow. World Star’s relationship with IAI will expand into the widebody-twin segment after the lessor signed a deal with the conversion house for one 777-300ERSF conversion in September.
