Freight forwarding network WCA has agreed to acquire a majority ownership interest in its rival freight and logistics network, ELITE Global Logistics Network (EGLN), in a deal that will combine the networks’ programs and benefits.
The agreement will officially begin on Jan. 1, 2018, and Roy Stapleton will continue as EGLN president in charge of overseeing network strategy and day-to-day operations.
EGLN was formed in 2015 with the goal of including the most respected groups in the logistics and transportation intermediary business, by invitation only. The more prominent WCA began as a network of independent freight forwarders that consolidated resources in 1998.
