Narrowbody transactions heat up in July

Narrowbody aircraft activity rebounded strongly in July, accounting for sixty of the seventy-nine freighter aircraft transactions that Cargo Facts recorded for the month. Transactions in July increased 52% year over year and surpassed those in June by seventeen. Most of the FATs in the narrowbody segment were attributed to two lessors that had a combined total of fifty transactions. FTAI Aviation placed a conversion order with AEI for twenty 737-800SFs after reaching an agreement with the STC holder to improve engine availability for potential customers. “Initial conversions will be performed at STAECO in China, with the first aircraft entering conversion in late summer 2026,” Bob Convey, senior vice president of sales and marketing at AEI, told Cargo Facts last month. FTAI will provide airlines with an integrated leasing and engine management program designed to lower operating costs and meet growing global demand for cost-effective, customized cargo aircraft, he said. Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based lessor Azorra followed FTAI by placing a conversion order with Embraer for thirty E190Fs at the recent Farnborough Airshow, officially making its entry into the freighter segment. After seeing its E-Jet freighter program get off to a slow start, the E190F deal with Azorra represents a turning point for the company, an Embraer spokesperson told Cargo Facts . As for widebody transactions in July, Saudia placed an order with Boeing for four 777Fs and China Southern Cargo placed a lease order with AerCap for three 777-300ERSFs. Saudia ordered four 777Fs from Boeing [FATs 11183-11186]. National Airlines took delivery of a 777F (70549) from Boeing [FAT 11252]. CAM inducted for conversion an A330-300 (1044, ex-Oman Air). The aircraft will be converted with EFW in Shanghai (SHA) [FAT 11254]. UPS took delivery of three 767-300Fs (68364, 68365, and 68366) from Boeing [FATs 11179-11180 and FAT 11253]. Cargojet inducted for conversion a 767-200ER (30433). The aircraft will be converted with IAI in Tel Aviv (TLV) [FATs 11188-11189]. 7Air returned two 737-800SFs (34799 and 33597) off lease to Aircastle [FATs 11177-11178]. Amazon placed a 737-800BCF (29938, ex-ASL Airlines Ireland) with Sun Country Airlines for CMI operation [FAT 11182]. FTAI Aviation placed a conversion order for twenty 737-800SFs with AEI [FATs 11190-11209]. Alaska Airlines placed a lease order for four 737-800BCFs from an undisclosed lessor [FATs 11248-11251]. K2 Airways lost a 737-400BDSF (29210) after it crashed into the Arabian Sea [FAT 11187]. Saltchuk Aviation placed a lease order for one 737-400F (28198, ex-Azul Linhas Aereas) with World Star Aviation [FATs 11216-11217]. Azorra placed a conversion order for twenty E190Fs with Embraer along with options for ten more [FATs 11218-11247]. FedEx took delivery of three Cessna 408s (408-0065, 408-0067 and 408-0069) from Textron Aviation [FATs 11213-11215]. GAM acquired a Beech 1900D (UE-210) from Alpine Air Express [FAT 11164].
