精确飞机方案公司（Precision Aircraft Solutions）和航空运输服务集团（ATSG）本周宣布，合资成立“321精确改造有限责任公司”，专注于空中客车A321-200飞机的客机至货机的改造业务。 在PAS近乎完美的改造波音757-200PCF之后，宣布着力改造空客321，无疑是顺理成章。与ATSG的合作似乎令人惊讶，却是两家公司合乎逻辑的下一步。 准确来讲，合资公司由PAS和CAM（ATSG下属的租赁公司）组成。两家公司曾有过共事经历，CAM不仅是4架由PAS负改造的波音757-200PCF的客户，还是PAS改造的波音757-200组合机型的首家用户。除此之外，成立合资公司似乎能带来双赢的局面。PAS的工程师负责将空客321改造后推向市场，正如ATSG首席执行官Joe Hete所言：“通过与PAS的新合作关系，不断扩充我们包括空客321-200在内的货机规模，未来将进一步加强我们给股东创造价值。” ATSG肯定会订购空客321，然而，PAS兼合资公司总裁Gary Warner表示，ATSG将不会是改造货机的首家用户。他补充道，已有客户订购空客321的改造机型，该客户目前身份保密，将在10月2-4日在迈阿密举办的“空运通讯高峰论坛”正式公布。同样，该货机改造的技术规格不会在“空运通讯高峰论坛”之前披露，但可以传递以下重要信息： 虽然竞争对手EFW计划推出空客320和空客321的机型改造，但合资公司将仅专注于空客321的机型改造。 空中客车将为321机型的非改造内容提供支持。也就是说，合资公司负责核心部件的技术改造，空中客车为其余部件提供代工服务。 合资公司表示，期望于2018年在合适的飞机上切割金属，并在2019年获得该项目工程的认证。虽然计划节点略微乐观，但考虑到PAS已于2016年第三季度全面启动了改造工程，2019获得项目认证并非不可能完成的任务。
