Fifth CAM 767 destined for Amazon this year redelivered

Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM), the leasing arm of Air Transport Services Group (ATSG), has taken redelivery of another 767-300BDSF (26913, ex-Air New Zealand) [FAT 005105]. This aircraft is the fifth 767 to be leased by CAM to Amazon in 2019 and will be operated by ATSG affiliate carrier Air Transport International (ATI) [FAT 005108 and 005109].

Unit 26913 was originally delivered to Air New Zealand in passenger configuration in 1994, and was withdrawn from service in 2017. It was then parked in Alice Springs (ASP) for storage for almost two years until March 2019, when after being acquired by CAM it was ferried to Tel Aviv (TLV) for conversion into freighter configuration by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). The aircraft was ferried to Cincinnati (CVG) via Shannon (SNN), and is currently on the way to Roswell (ROW) to be painted.

As part of an accelerated schedule, CAM will now place six 767-300BDSFs with Amazon by the end of 2019 and four in 2020, rather than five each year as stipulated for under a deal Amazon signed in Dec. 2018 to lease ten additional converted 767-300Fs from CAM.

Cargo Facts previously provided the details of five of the six 767-300BDSF frames expected to be leased to Amazon by CAM this year. Since then, unit 26912 (ex-Air New Zealand), which was redelivered in May, has entered service and is being operated by ATI. Unit 24035 (ex-American Airlines) was redelivered to CVG early this month and is expected to begin service shortly.

This leaves one remaining 767-300BDSF to be redelivered to CAM and placed with Amazon by the end of the year. We suggest that this will be unit 24983 (ex-Delta Airlines), which was inducted for conversion in TLV in May and will likely be completed in the next few months.
