ANA Cargo hands over third 767-300BCF to CAM

Japan-based ANA Cargo transferred a 767-300BCF (24400) to Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM), the leasing arm of ATSG. The aircraft was ferried from Tokyo (HND) to Wilmington (ILN) via Anchorage (ANC), arriving March 2 [FAT 005098].

This is the third 767-300BCF ANA Cargo sold to CAM as part of an August 2019 agreement. Following conformity, the aircraft is expected to be dry-leased to Atlanta-based UPS.

Last year UPS inked a deal with CAM to dry lease five 767Fs. The first two aircraft, placed with UPS in late 2019, were acquired by ATSG as passenger aircraft (28039 and 28041) and converted by IAI. Earlier this year, UPS added to its fleet one of the ex-ANA Cargo 767-300BCFs (25136), and the second (24632) will soon follow.

Not far behind is unit 24400. The aircraft was originally delivered to ANA in passenger configuration in June 1989, and was converted by Boeing to 767-300BCF configuration in 2008. Until January 2020, the freighter was utilized in ANA Cargo’s regional, intra-Asia network.

For ANA Cargo, the decision to reduce its 767F fleet followed the recent addition of two large widebody 777Fs, and this timing was not ideal. The two aircraft (65756 and 65757) arrived in May and June 2019, against a backdrop of continuing weakness in the overall economy as well as trade tension between China and the U.S. In January, ANA Cargo suspended its trans-Pacific services.
