The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has certified both the 737-700BDSF by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and the 737-800SF by Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI), paving the way for the introduction of the two freighter-converted aircraft types by Chinese operators.

All three 737 NG conversion programs currently certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are now also certified by the CAAC, which granted approval for Boeing’s 737-800BCF program in December 2018.

IAI’s MRO partner in China, Tianjin Haite Aircraft Engineering Co. Ltd., has so far converted two 737-700s, both of which were redelivered to India-based SpiceJet. A third is currently undergoing conversion but IAI declined to identify that aircraft or the eventual customer.

Neither the 737-700BDSF nor the 737-800SF have yet been certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Tianjin Air Cargo and China Postal Airlines are the only Chinese carriers currently operating 737-800BCFs.
