Redelivery, widebody FATs stand out in May

The total number of freighter aircraft transactions for May decreased by double digits from the previous month with sixty-four FATs recorded. Although the FAT activity for May represented nineteen fewer transactions than in April, it was also an increase of four year over year. Atlas Air’s widebody fleet growth was one of the highlights for May, after the group acquired two 747-400Fs each from Jetran and Silk Way West Airlines . While the 747 freighter continues to see growing demand for its services, MD-11F retirements were also noteworthy as FedEx and UPS continued to remove the type from service. 767 freighters led redeliveries with five of the eleven FATs for the month. The A330F, A321F and 737-800F rounded out the redelivery total with two transactions each. Amerijet completed its transition to a single fleet type when it returned three 757-200PCFs to Titan Aircraft Investments. Meanwhile, two carriers took delivery of ATR 72 freighters for the first time. Below is a list of FATs recorded in May 2024. Each transaction contains a unique FAT code linked to our FAT Database . Atlas Air acquired two 747-400Fs (30766 and 30767, both ex-China Airlines) from Jetran [FATs 9661-9662]. Atlas Air also acquired two 747-400Fs (28434 and 29902) from Silk Way West Airlines [FATs 9663-9664]. UPS retired five MD-11Fs (48805, 48573, 48571, 48475 and 48452) and placed them into storage in Roswell (ROW) [FATs 9668-9672]. FedEx retired six MD-11Fs (48402, 48794, 48501, 48481, 48748 and 48553) and placed them into storage in Victorville (VCV) [FATs 9686-9691]. Altavair inducted for conversion an A330-300 (1226, ex-Etihad Airways). The aircraft will be converted with EFW in Guangzhou (CAN) [FAT 9697]. DHL Express placed an A330-300P2F (1544, ex-Singapore Airlines) with Air Hong Kong for CMI operation [FAT 9698]. Airbus took redelivery of an A330-300P2F (1712, ex-Cebu Pacific) after conversion with EFW in Mobile (BFM) and placed it on lease to Mas [FATs 9707-9708]. Amazon took redelivery of a 767-300BDSF (32776, ex-Delta Air Lines) after conversion with IAI in Mexico City (MEX) and placed it with Air Transport International for CMI operation [FATs 9645-9646]. Cross Ocean Partners took redelivery of a 767-300BDSF (29138, ex-TUI fly Netherlands) after conversion with IAI in Tel Aviv (TLV) [FATs 9651-9654]. CAM acquired and inducted for conversion a 767-300ER (29617, ex-TUI Airways). The aircraft will be converted with IAI at TLV [FATs 9655-9657]. CAM took redelivery of a 767-300BDSF (25209, ex-Condor) after conversion with IAI at TLV [FAT 9695]. LATAM took redelivery of a 767-300BCF (41747) after conversion with Boeing at CAN [FAT 9696]. UPS took redelivery of a 767-300BCF (40363, ex-Japan Airlines) after conversion with Boeing in Singapore (QPG) [FAT 9709]. FedEx took delivery of a 767-300F (67535) from Boeing [FAT 9710]. Airbus took redelivery of an A330-200P2F (785, ex-Air China) after conversion with EFW in Dresden (DRS) and placed it on lease to Capital Airlines [FATs 9647-9649]. DHL Express transferred an A300-600F (857) from Air Hong Kong to ASL Airlines Ireland for CMI operation [FATs 9716-9717]. Amerijet returned three 757-200PCFs (32386, 32387 and 32400, ex-American Airlines) off lease to Titan Aircraft Investments [FATs 9692-9694]. JLPS Ireland took redelivery of an A321-200P2F (3512, ex-British Airways) after conversion with EFW at CAN [FATs 9641-9642]. AerCap inducted for conversion an A321-200 (2759, ex-China Southern Airlines). The aircraft will be converted with EFW at CAN [FAT 9650]. Nexus Aviation Ventures took redelivery of an A321-200PCF (2919, ex-Aruba Airlines) after conversion with 321 Precision Conversions in Xiamen (XMN) [FAT 9706]. Chisholm Enterprises took redelivery of a 737-800BCF (35092, ex-Aircompany Armenia) after conversion with Boeing at CAN [FAT 9705]. 7Air took delivery of a 737-800SF (34799, ex-SpiceJet) on lease from Aircastle [FATs 9711-9712]. AerCap took redelivery of a 737-800BCF (32688, ex-Shenzhen Airlines) after conversion with Boeing in Jinan (TNA) and placed it on lease to JD Airlines [FATs 9718-9720]. Braspress Transportes Urgentes took delivery of a 737-400F (29206, ex-ASL Airlines Belgium) on lease from World Star Aviation [FATs 9658-9660]. Total Linhas Aereas took delivery of a 737-400F (26299, ex-ASL Airlines) on lease from Hamden Aviation [FATs 9713-9715]. Renegade Air took delivery of an ATR 72-500F (875, ex-Trujet) on lease from Abelo [FATs 9643-9644]. Aerlink took delivery of two ATR 72-200Fs (467 and 460, both ex-Solenta Aviation) on lease from ACIA Aero Leasing [FATs 9699-9704].
